MAY 2017

Dear Parents and Students,

Just by looking at this month's calendar you can see that we are jam packed with activities, events, celebrations, occasions, festivities, and more! Please don’t forget that TEACHER APPRECIATION WEEK occurs during the week of May 1st.  Make-up testing for grades 3, 4, and 5 will be completed directly after the initial testing dates beginning on May 3rd. 

A PTO meeting will be held on Tuesday, May 2nd at 7:30 p.m. in our media center.  This is the last PTO meeting for the school year.  We are also desperately seeking a NEW PTO PRESIDENT.  Please contact the office if you are interested with this volunteer endeavor.

The PTO Book Fair will be held on Thursday, May 4th and Friday, May 5th.   (ART Room – 2nd floor)

Our PTO Plant Sale will be on Friday, May 12th. This will be a great day to have children purchase flowers and plants for loved ones.  It will be held on the 16th Avenue blacktop by the flagpole or, based on inclement weather, it may be in the GYM.  Kindergarten classes will still dismiss in the gym.

Please also note on the district calendar that our school will be closed on Monday, May 29th in support of Memorial Day.  We will reopen school on Tuesday, May 30th.

I'm sure you know how very much I appreciate the professional staff at 16th Avenue School.  I certainly could not do my job without them and this school would not be the wonderful school that it is if it weren't for our outstanding teachers and aides. 

Teacher Appreciation Week
(May 1-5) isn't nearly long enough to say thank you to all the dedicated, talented, caring staff members who provide your children not only with an excellent education, but also instill self-confidence, kindness, respect, understanding, perseverance, and tolerance in our future citizens.

So, please join me to take a minute to say thank you to those wonderful people who are such an important part of your children's lives!
