PARKING INFORMATION FOR PARENTS

October 4, 2018

Dear Parents:

After a review of the current traffic laws and our arrival/dismissal routines, the Elmwood Park Police Department suggested some procedures for our school. These suggestions may help to address the parking issues at 16th Avenue School.  Many rules will need to be in place to help alleviate the parking situation at our school. Parents and students may use both 14th and 16th Avenues for arrival and dismissal times. I recommend you have all of your children at our school go to one location.  I suggest the older siblings go to where the younger siblings need to be.

Effective immediately, the following should take place:

  • ALL VEHICLES should only be dropping-off/picking up students on school-curb sides;

  • Parents should drop–off students between 8:30 – 8:50 a.m. / DISMISSAL is at 3:15 p.m.;

  • Parents should immediately leave after students are exiting/entering the cars;

  • Parents must exit students out of the car to the curb, not opening doors in the street;

  • Parents may not park on 14th or 16th Avenues (as outlined by traffic signs);

  • Parents are encouraged to “STOP, DROP-OFF, and PULL AWAY;”

  • Parents may not leave cars “unattended” (parked) or ticketing may take place;

  • Adults wishing to park, Must Not park on the school-side curbs on 14th or 16th Avenues;

  • Adults may never park on the residential or school-side curb on 16th Avenue at any time;

  • Adults may park on the apartment-side curb on 14th Avenue – as listed on the traffic signs;

  • Adults and Children are strongly encouraged to ONLY CROSS at the crosswalks with the guards;

  • There is NO SUPERVISION for students on school grounds before 8:30 a.m.;

Let me express to you how important it is to keep the safety of the students in mind when adhering to these new procedures. We will share the rules with your children and ask that you support our efforts with this.  Please contact me should you have any questions or continued concerns.

Sincerely,

Dominick J. Silla, Principal

Anti-Bullying

Please click here for the 2015-2016 Anti-Bullying Bill of Rights Act Grades.

Under the Commissioner's Program, the school grade is a raw score of data and the sum of all the ratings for all indicators within each core element on the School Self-Assessment (e.g., 65 of 78 points).  The maximum total score for a school is 78 points.  The school district's grade is an average of the total scores of all schools in the school district.  The department issued grade is not represented as a letter grade.  The NJ Department of Education is not issuing any associated value or ranking for the raw and average scores.  The raw and average scores reflect the school and school district's degree of compliance with the Anti-Bullying Bill of Rights Act (ABR), as determined primarily through each school's self-assessment of its implementation of the ABR.
