Students should depart from school grounds immediately after dismissal time unless they are remaining for tutoring, detention, or participation in extracurricular activities.
PLEASE speak to the appropriate teacher(s) if you wish siblings to be together for ease of pick-up at our school.
Students are Not Permitted to Leave Early except in an emergency. Families indicating a pattern of tardiness, absenteeism or early departure will need to meet with the principal to review the details of the issue.
Elmwood Park Board Policy including working relations with the Elmwood Park Police department and Bergen County's Child Protective Services may be relevant and enforced with any given issues pending neglect or abuse.
With prior approval of the principal, any student in need of early dismissal must present a note signed by a parent or guardian to the classroom teacher upon arrival to class during arrival. The note must state cause for the request. The parent or guardian must call for the student in the main office at the approved time for pick-up.
In the event someone other than a parent or guardian has parental permission to call for a student, that person must be prepared to show a valid photograph driver's license to be copied by the school, to be kept on file as a record of pick-up.
PLEASE ALLOW US SEVERAL MINUTES TO CONTACT A TEACHER AND/OR YOUR CHILD FOR EARLY DISMISSALS
With a change to the usual dismissal procedure for your child.
To this end, we will only be able to accommodate such last minute requests prior to 3:00 p.m. for our usual 3:15 p.m. dismissal time.
We will need to hear from you by 12:45 p.m. during half-day sessions where students are dismissed early at 1:00 p.m.
Please follow the directions below for ARRIVAL and DISMISSAL for the 2016-2017 school year. Student Arrival will take place between 8:30 a.m.and 8:45am.
Unless you are registered for the BEFORE SCHOOL Program,please do not drop-off your child earlier than 8:30 a.m., as there will be no supervision on school grounds.
Students entering the school at 8:50 a.m. or later will be marked TARDY. These students MUST report to the main office.
ARRIVAL will take place at the Preschool doors in the 14th Avenue parking lot.
DAILY DISMISSAL will take place at the 14th Avenue Preschool doors for Prek classes and in the same location for both of our special education self-contained classes (Wilson & Rossetti) at the main 14th doors.
DAILY ARRIVAL will be at the 14th Avenue doors – students will line-up by their classrooms.
Dismissal will be at the 14th Avenue doors.
(In the fall - dismissal for these classes will be 5 minutes early, @ 3:10 p.m.
All Kindergarten students will be dismissed in the GYM.
Parents are expected to enter the gym doors at 3:15 p.m.
All students in grade one will be dismissed to the 14th Avenue doors.
The 14th Avenue doors will also dismiss students in Ms. Wilson's class and Ms. Rossetti's class.
Parents will be recognized one at a time by the homeroom teacher in the 14th Avenue lot until the cold weather arrives. Generally speaking, the K and 1 classes will dismiss outside until December, and then again in April until June.
Your child will be dismissed in the hallway to you during inclement weather and during the winter months - December through March.
Parents are expected to exit the school at the 14th Avenue doors - not to enter the building unless business is conducted at the main office.
ARRIVAL will be on the 16th Ave. blacktop between 8:30 - 8:45 a.m. Students will line-up by the classrooms in the hallways when there is inclement weather for any given morning.
***Grade 5 will enter the recess side doors by the apartments near the media center.
***Grade 2 will always enter and exit these side doors on 16th Avenue by the apartments as well.
DISMISSAL will take place on the 16th Avenue every day.
***During inclement weather (rooms 1 & 2, grade 2) will wait for parents to visit the classroom doors. Room 20 (grade 2) will have its students in the hallway by rooms 1 & 2 for pick up at 3:15 p.m.***
Grade 5 will have parents enter the side doors by the apartments and go down to the lower level to pick-up grade 5 students in the hall during inclement weather and the winter months.
***Grades 3 & 4 - During Inclement Weather DISMISSALS, students will be lined up in the hallways as follows.
Grade 3 - By the nurse's hallway
Grade 4 - By the counselor's room (# 4) hallway
Parents may enter the doors on 16th Avenue at 3:15 p.m. and go the get their child(ren) in this first floor hallway.***
If you are dropping-off primary and intermediate students in the morning, you may drop off both students at the location assigned to the youngest child – (on 14th Avenue).
Any student arriving late to school, after 8:50 a.m., should enter the building through the 14th or 16th Avenue doors and report to the main office to receive a LATE PASS. These students will be marked TARDY.
Students will be dismissed each day at 3:15pm. Contact your child's teacher in order to request that your older children will be sent to the younger sibling’s dismissal area. Younger students may also join an older brother and/or sister at your request. Please contact the homeroom teachers as needed.
If you wish your child to take advantage of breakfast being served at the school, simply allow your child to enter the gym between 8:30 – 8:45 a.m. Students will be supervised in the gym.
